Frequently Asked Questions
What is Saturday Night Space Opera?
SNSO is a Twin Cities-based, tabletop game group that runs sci-fi-themed roleplaying and board games for fellow sci-fi fans. We meet virtually and in person to play new and classic games, teach you the rules along the way, and provide everything you need to be a tabletop hero!
How do I join a game?
Games are listed on our Events page and will state whether they are online or in-person events. Click the event when the registration button is live, fill out the form and you're on your way! Just be aware that seating for games is limited, so the earlier you sign up for a game, the better.
Why space opera? Do you play other games?
Back in 2015, we started out playing mainly space-based sci-fi games. But we've branched out since then, playing everything from horror, to mysteries, to superhero games, and more. Basically, anything but solely fantasy since, uh, there's already a healthy genre and super-popular game for that!
Are online games recorded or broadcast?
Unless expressly stated before sign-up, video and audio of games are never broadcast or recorded. Participants are also expressly prohibited from recording game sessions. Occasionally, we do like to document our games with photos. In these cases, we always ask for permission beforehand.
When will I receive my link to play online?
For online games, we'll send you detail on how to access either our Discord event channel or our Zoom meeting link about 24 hours prior to the event.
How do I find out about upcoming games?
You can subscribe to our newsletter at the link below or visit or Events page.
What are your terms and conditions?
You can visit our Policies and Guidelines page for full details.
I'm interested in running games, how can I apply?
Just fill out our SNSO Game Master Application and we'll get back in touch with you.
Is there a cost to participate?
Since 2015, we've made our games free to the public. We hope to continue that for as long as we can. It's made possible through the passion and talent of our team of volunteers, all of whom enjoy sharing their love of tabletop games.
